Who is Reverend Susan Varon?
|
I am an ordained Interfaith Minister, artist and writer, and I am also a stroke survivor. Before answering the call to spiritual service, I taught writing workshops at Marymount College, and to women survivors of physical or emotional trauma.
My stroke occurred in 1989, when I was married and had a young daughter. It switched on a creative faculty that had been dormant since childhood. For twelve years subsequently, I worked as a serious (and published) poet, winning awards and fellowships and traveling to residencies in New Mexico, Washington State and New Hampshire.
In 2003, I felt a call to the ministry, and entered One Spirit Interfaith Seminary. I was graduated and ordained in June 2005. I am a member of the National Association of Wedding Ministers and am registered as a wedding officiant with the City of New York.
